Disc Jockey/Owner/Master of Ceremonies & Entertainer of Expression Weddings/ Finger Lakes Celebrations
Eric is a third-generation entertainer, following his father Gary who was a radio Dj in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Gary's father Glen, who pioneered a popular big band that played and recorded in the upper Midwest.
Eric started to Dj while residing in Madison, WI in 1978. Eric was already involved in radio doing voice-overs and he also programmed custom music (home studio photo 1979). Gary worked for a catering company that kept asking them to provide music at a local Restaurant/Bar. The owner knew they collectively owned over 9,000 thousand albums, so between their personalities & music he wanted to spice up the nightlife on Madison's south side. They eventually agreed, and it became an instant success for several years. Eric eventually moved to California a few years later. With access to only his own music collection and limited equipment, Eric gave up DJ'ing. The next
decade involved relocations, a marriage and eventually children. After settling into northern California Eric again started Djing with great success. When asked why he became a Dj Eric replied " My father is the main reason, however entertainment has always come natural to me and the true satisfaction of entertaining came from knowing a new couple started their lives with a memorable celebration".
Due to family concerns in central N.Y. and after many successful years, Eric sold the business to relocate in Penn Yan. Upon arrival Eric immediately set up shop once again and has been entertaining the Fingerlakes region since 2001.
The original Daddy DJ 2005
Eric's father, Gary, played trombone and piano, and was one of the originating radio voices at K.O.M.E. 98.5
in San Jose, CA. K.O.M.E. started broadcasting in 1970, and in a few years had established itself as one of the most innovative and creative music stations in the South Bay Area. It quickly moved up to the top of the ratings. K.O.M.E. remained popular for decades, and eventually was sold, and the station's call letters were just recently retired.
Gary is an outgoing guy and as a young lad growing up, he allowed Eric to run the halls of the radio station. Music, musicians, and concerts have offered Eric an unusually expansive musical knowledge thanks to Gary's own love of music.
Eric's grandfather Glen was popular with his Big Band from 1927-34. Glen recorded songs at a studio in Grafton, WI. It was run by the New York Recording Laboratories (NYRL) under the Broadway label. Eric's Grandfather's best known songs were recorded with the original family name: Lietzke's Midnight Serenaders. When Glen changed his last name, the band became The Glen Lyte Orchestra, aka, Glen Lyte and the Midnight Serenaders. Three of his songs can still be purchased on line as part of a CD entitled: Paramount Hot Dance Obscurities Vol 2. The whole story of the Midnight Serenader's and the hot band scene in Chicago and Wisconsin is coming in a book now being edited by Alex van der Tuuk
Eric's sweetheart Katy
Eric met Catherine in High School during the early 80’s. For 7 years Catherine and Eric went
dancing every Friday and Saturday night. The enjoyment they shared for music and dancing helped to keep the young couple together for 7 years. Even after a 15 year separation the fire of love was still burning, and they were reunited via a website called &;classmates.com. They both relocated to the Penn Yan area 4 years ago. Today they have a blended family of four children. The oldest is mature and competent enough to help Eric from time to time and the next in line is coming up fast. They are charmed by the wonderful hospitality everyone has shown them since relocating to the FingerLakes area.
